São Paulo follows Brasília Time (BRT, UTC-3) year-round. Brazil suspended daylight saving time permanently in 2019 after studies showed the energy savings were minimal. BRT is shared by most of Brazil's major cities including Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, and Belo Horizonte. São Paulo is 3 hours behind London in winter and only 2 hours behind in European summer. It's one of the few major cities in the Americas closer in time to Europe than to the US West Coast.
